About this quiz

Going undrafted means every team passed, usually more than once. Playing 500 games afterwards means lasting the better part of a decade in a league that had already decided you weren't worth a pick.

It is the most quietly impressive list here. A few of these players became All-Stars; most simply became indispensable, which is arguably the harder thing to do from that starting point.

How to beat the clock

  • Role players and specialists dominate — defenders, shooters, backup bigs.
  • A couple of genuine stars are hiding in here. Name them early for momentum.
  • Think of long-serving veterans whose draft status you never thought about.

How answers are matched

Type a full name, or just a surname when it is unambiguous — “Jordan” counts on a list with one Jordan, but a list with several Johnsons asks for the first name too. Capitalisation, punctuation and accents are all ignored, so “o neal” and “O’Neal’ are the same answer. The clock starts when you do, and a correct name clears the box so you can keep typing.
