Magic Johnson played 17 seasons between 1979 and 1996, all of it with the Lakers. Over 906 regular-season games he averaged 19.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 11.2 assists, finishing with 17,707 career points. He was 3× MVP, 3× Finals MVP, 12× All-Star, 10× All-NBA, 5× champion and member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
He entered the league in the 1979 draft, taken first overall, with everything that expectation carries. That makes him a product of the 1970s, and his career totals should be read against the pace and rules of that period.
Across a unusually long career of 17 seasons he was a consistent starter at 19.5 points per game. He was a genuine playmaker, not just a finisher.

Why this was a fair answer
